Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect
Consensus AI collects minimal data to provide the service:
- Session ID — A randomly generated anonymous identifier stored in your browser's localStorage. This is not linked to your identity.
- Nickname — An optional display name you choose (or an auto-generated one). Not linked to any personal information.
- Zip Code — If you use restaurant or takeout features, your zip code is used to search for nearby places. It is sent to our geocoding provider (OpenStreetMap Nominatim) and Foursquare to find restaurants. It is not stored permanently.
- Swipe Responses — Your yes/no/skip votes on items within a room. These are stored temporarily and auto-expire with the room (within 30 minutes).
2. What We Do Not Collect
- No email addresses, phone numbers, or real names
- No passwords or login credentials
- No precise GPS location (only zip code, if you provide one)
- No payment information
- No tracking cookies or advertising identifiers
3. Data Storage & Retention
Room data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS US-East-1) and automatically expires within 30 minutes. Your browser stores a session ID in localStorage which you can clear at any time by clearing your browser data.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to provide content:
- TMDB — Movie and TV show data
- Foursquare — Restaurant and takeout data
- NYT Books API — Bestseller book data
- TheMealDB — Recipe data
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim — Zip code geocoding
- Vercel — Hosting
- Supabase — Database
Each of these services has their own privacy policies.
